Fiction worth your midnight

Jackfic began as a reading group with a complaint: the internet buried good short fiction under a landslide of algorithm-fed filler. Endless scroll, recycled tropes, stories abandoned by their authors at chapter twelve. We built the opposite — a curated magazine where a small editorial team reads everything, selects little, and publishes what survives: serialized stories released in weekly chapters that are actually finished.

What we publish

Jackfic is a home for genre-savvy, voice-driven fiction:

  • Serialized novels and novellas across speculative fiction, thriller, romance, and literary crossover — released in weekly installments engineered for the cliffhanger, paid off in the next chapter.
  • Standalone short stories between seasons, complete in one sitting.
  • Author spotlights and craft notes, because readers who stay up past midnight usually want to know how the trick was done.

How stories get here

Every submission is read by an editor — not a filter, not a scoring model. Selection is the product: most stories are declined, authors receive real editorial feedback, and accepted work goes through a professional edit before its first chapter runs. Writers are paid for their serialization and keep their rights; the platform exists to bring their work to readers, not to own it.

The reading experience

Our mobile-first reader is built for the way people actually read serialized fiction — offline chapters, typography that respects long sessions, and a library that remembers where you fell asleep.

If you have ever lost an evening to a story that deserved it, Jackfic was built for you: curated fiction, one week at a time, from voices worth staying up for.
